Beverages — malted drinks

Malted drink
powder handling.

Malt extract powders, milk solids and sugar — hygroscopic, cohesive, and beloved across Asia and the Pacific — blended and packed at scale.

Malted drink with barley grains

In brief

Malted drink powders combine malt extract solids, milk powders and sugar — hygroscopic materials that cake if moisture reaches them. TLG builds malted-drink lines with dry-air conveying, sealed storage, flow-engineered discharge for cohesive powders, and blend-to-pack routes that hold homogeneity.

The powder problem

Process requirements.

Malt powders take up moisture aggressively and set like plaster where they do. Dehumidified convey air, sealed vessels with breather filtration, and hoppers designed for cohesive flow keep the product moving through humid climates — where much of this category is made and drunk.

The process — stage by stage

The malted drink line, stage by stage.

Every stage below is equipment TLG designs and builds — follow any of them into the solutions range.

  1. 01

    Raw material intake

Sacks and bulk bags enter the line contained — dust captured at the tip point, foreign objects screened out.

  2. 02

Raw material & finished goods storage

Silos with discharge engineered to the powder's measured flow properties — storage that empties reliably.

  3. 03

    Automated batching

Every ingredient weighed to recipe on isolated load cells, majors to minors, with the batch record generated automatically.

  4. 04

    Foreign material removal

Magnets hold ferrous wear metal; check-sieves reject oversize — placed where HACCP analysis puts them.

  5. 05

    Dissolver feeding

Continuous or batch delivery of powders into liquid processing, at the rate the dissolver can wet.

  6. 06

    Dust extraction

Capture at every transfer point, ducted to reverse-jet filtration — hygiene, compliance and recovered product.

  7. 07

    Automation & controls

One control system sequencing the whole line — recipes, interlocks and records included.
